North Shore Mountain Bike Association
|
The Date is Set - NSMBA AGM 2009 |
|
Does mountain biking have a future on the North Shore? In five years, will you be able to ride your favorite trail, or will it be closed? Will we have more trails, better trails, and a trail network that challenges riders of all ages and abilities? Will riders have a say in trail management?
The answer to these questions, and many more, is up to you. Over the next five years, the mountain biking community on the North Shore will face drastic changes. Your input, involvement and support will determine the nature and severity or this changes. If you want to have an active role in your community, then come to the NSMBA AGM and make sure your voice is heard! Date: Thursday, December 10th Time: 7:00pm Location: Jaycee House, 1251 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver The NSMBA executive and volunteers are working behind the scenes to make sure the agenda of the AGM is driven by you, our members. We've designed a short survey to get your feedback on how we've done this year, and what you would like to see in the future. Please take a few minutes to fill it out here!
Over the next week, expect to see the "Election Headquarters" set up on our website, along with a draft agenda and more info about the AGM. |

CBC Closed For The Winter |
|
The CBC trail on Mt. Seymour is now officially closed until the Spring of 2010. With the heavy rains over the past couple weeks, the lower section of the trail has taken a beating and numerous braids have formed. Please respect the closure of CBC.
During the winter, signs courtesy of the NSMBA are posted alongside the road heading up Mt. Seymour when CBC is closed during this time, typically starting in November and being removed in the Spring depending on conditions. The landowners will be enforcing the closure. Want to know why CBC is closed during the winter and after heavy rains? Read on below. |

NSMBA Trail Day - Dirty Diapers - July 19th, 2009 |
|
Words by Mathew Bond Photos by Jenny Lee-Silver For those of you that are thinking, "Hey! I thought this was supposed to be a Ned's Trail Day! Ned's is my favourite trail! I wanted to build some sick berms!" I guess we owe you a bit of an explanation. The entrance to Dirty Diapers is off the Cabin Trail
In the middle of winter, when most riders are pulling chunks of mud out from between their teeth after a cold ride through sticky sludge, the NSMBA Trails team sits down over a couple of beers and plans out where our trail days are going to be for the coming year. While some may think that selecting dates and locations is a simple as opening a map, closing your eyes, and placing your finger randomly on a trail, the truth is that a lot of thought and hard work go into this process. Dates are carefully selected to avoid holidays and major community events. Trails are even more carefully selected, based on an evaluation of the trails condition (structures, trail surface, erosion), maintenance activity, level of use, and consultation with the land managers. |
